Canine Career Day is sponsored by the Houghton Lake Merchants Association and the Chamber of Commerce. Canine Career Day will held be behind the Chamber of Commerce/Playhouse from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 13. Food concessions will be provided by Joe's Coney.

A K-9 police demonstration by Undersheeriff Ed Stearn and Yeff will be from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. There will also be a Classic Canine Show with Clifford the Horse from 3:00 - 3:45 pm. All day long visitors will be able to teach their dogs basic commands or tricks.

There will be contests held for Dog/Human look alike, ugliest dog, cutest dog, best kisser, best trick, and best tail wagger. Registration for these contest will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and the cotest will begin at 1:00 pm. Vendors will be onsite for pet supplies, food, toys, nail trimming and hair dyeing.
